According to China Natural Resources News, Jiang Xingwei, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and former director of the National Satellite Ocean Application Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, said that promoting the construction of Ningxia Zhongwei Remote Sensing Satellite Calibration and Authenticity Inspection Field will help strengthen the country's space infrastructure and promote the development and upgrading of the calibration field to automation, integration, and sharing; constructing the development system of high-resolution satellites from geometric remote sensing to quantitative remote sensing can effectively improve the geometric and quantitative remote sensing monitoring capabilities of high-resolution satellites, improve accuracy, be helpful to comprehensively and accurately understand the current situation and dynamic changes of carbon sources and carbon sinks, help government departments grasp the dynamics of carbon sources and sinks, realize development decision-making and process control, and promote the country to achieve the "double carbon" goal.
He suggested that additional funds should be invested to purchase and upgrade the existing equipment at the Ningxia Zhongwei Remote Sensing Satellite Calibration and Authenticity Inspection Field to better meet the calibration needs of the country's high-resolution special satellites and civil space infrastructure satellites.
